The one problem I have is with the armpit stains in the t-shirts. It doesn’t matter what brand I buy, within a couple of months my white shirts have a nasty yellow ring under the arms. In some of the shirts, it is not so bad and noticeable, but the plain white shirts are horrible. It gets so bad, that I am even embarrassed to wear the shirt. So, I was thrilled when a couple of years ago I found the best way to remove armpit stains. I now make up a batch of cleaner every couple of months and my white t-shirts can always stay white. The best part is it only takes a few minutes of my time and is very cheap to remove armpit stains.
It’s really easy to see all the staining in my shirt, it’s there and gross. I had stopped wearing this shirt because it was too yellow under the armpits. I have heard that the yellowing is from the deodorant, not your actual sweat. But, still, it is so gross! I am ready to remove armpit stains from this shirt.I start by making up a batch of the armpit stain cleaner. Mix 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide, and 1 cup of water in a bowl. It is a very watery mixture, don’t worry about that it will still remove armpit stains. I just spoon or pour it on to the armpit areas. You can see below how the watery mixture soaks in the shirt and the baking soda sits on top.

Then I put it in my laundry room sink and let it sit overnight. In the morning, I just put in the washing machine with hot water and soap. You may want to do a double rinse on the shirts. They tend to get stiff from all of the baking soda. When I remove them from the washing machine the stains are almost gone. You can repeat the process if you still have some stains.
You can do three or four shirts with the amount, so you may want to wait until you have a couple of shirts to do. Although I have tried this a couple of times on different colored shirts, I don’t recommend you do it unless you are willing to possibly ruin the shirt. It works fantastic on white shirts, but I have heard that hydrogen peroxide can bleach colors. If you are dealing with deodorant stains on dark shirts you can try this trick on how to remove deodorant build up from dark clothes.
You don’t need to throw out those deodorant stained shirts anymore. Get rid of those embarrassing armpit stains easily and overnight. This really is the best way to remove armpit stains. It has saved so many of my favorite shirts.
